Bert and Gayle Blyleven, Honorary Co-Chairs
NPFM is excited to have Bert and Gayle Blyleven as honorary co-chairs. Bert’s father, Joe, had Parkinson’s disease and the Blylevens are committed to raising funds to support those living with Parkinson’s disease. Bert spent 23 years in major league baseball, pitching for the Minnesota Twins and others. He now serves as the color analyst for the Twins broadcasts. In July 2011 Bert was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
It all started in 2004 when NPFM joined Bert and Gayle for Bert’s Birthday Party at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, with NPFM member Bill Maser throwing out the first pitch. Bert and Gayle have also lead the Annual Walk for Parkinson’s Disease and have done so since 2004. In addition to supporting NPFM activities, Bert and Gayle raise money for Parkinson’s research through Bert’s website, www.bertblyleven.com.
