Capistrant Fitness Assessment

Free fitness assessments are available Wednesday afternoon and are required prior to participating in the fitness classes. You will meet with a physical therapist for a 30 minute assessment to evaluate your walking, balance, strength and more. To make an appointment call 651-326-2178.

Struthers Movement Boosters

This is a comprehensive, active exercise class designed to work on increased strength, flexibility, balance and agility. It emphasizes larger movements. Capistrant Fitness III

Fitness  III is a seated group designed for participants who may need more significant help with activities of daily living. This class will provide appropriate exercise and group activities to counteract the long term emotional impact of PD.  $5 per session This unique exercise program stresses components of strengthening, stretching and aerobics.  Fitness classes are supervised by a recreation therapist who will provide guidance to complete exercises, provide assistance as appropriate and monitor response to exercise. The recreational therapists are trained professionals with experience working with people with Parkinson’s disease. Fitness I, II and III are designed to provide fitness opportunities for participants across the continuum of their disease. A free Fitness Assessment is required prior to joining Fitness I, II or III classes.

Acclaimed author and spiritual teacher Pandit Rajmani Tigunait will speak to the essence of Living Tantra and how tantric teachings and techniques enhance and deepen Yoga, Meditation, and Ayurveda practices from 7-9 p.m. on June 7 at Lake Superior Interfaith Community Church. The goal of this seminar is to help you understand the spirit of Tantra, and to gather the tools for your personal empowerment and inner healing. This program gives you the essence of the Living Tantra Series and highlights the practices for discovering the innate wisdom of your body and the immense power of your mind. Spiritual head of the Himalayan Institute, Pandit Tigunait is the successor of Swami Rama of the Himalayas. Capistrant Parkinson’s Dance Class

Specially designed for people with Parkinson’s or other movement disorders.  Come alone or with a caregiver/partner. Enjoy live music and move to feel energized. The class is for all skill levels. The eight-week session is $30, or you may pay $5 each class. There is no charge for a caregiver/partner to participate. Scholarships are available, too. Dancing with Parkinson's

Dancing with Parkinson's continues into springtime! As the snow melts and the birds  return, come celebrate spring with movement. No experience necessary for this dance class. You just need an interest in having fun. Sit or stand, come alone or with a partner/caregiver and enjoy the live music and social interaction. Classes are held at the Maplewood Community Center, 2100 White Bear Avenue North, in Maplewood. loin us on the following Friday mornings from 10 to 11 am: April 5, 12 and 19; May 3,10 and 31; and June 7 and 14.
