What is a Parkinson’s-Friendly Community?
Vibrant communities are rich in diversity and welcome residents of all ages and backgrounds, and neighbors live and work together for the greater good of all.
Because of physical challenges, some of those with Parkinson’s disease have difficulty participating in community activities and events.
Whether you’re planning a major hometown event or hosting an activity at your church, school or home, make it welcoming for people with Parkinson’s disease. Begin with the basics of making sure your facility is accessible and easy to maneuver in a wheelchair or walker and build from there. Think it through from parking and seating to food, straws and extra napkins. It’s about options and accommodations, provided with a little extra help from your friends!
